Final words

And as a groom, you will be responsible for choosing each detail. Starting from the venue, getting your wedding invitations right, guest list, cake, and much more, organizing a wedding certainly takes a lot of time and energy.

All things considered, your wedding day is the most special occasion for you and your significant other. That’s why you should carefully consider all the given choices.

Then, make sure to choose the one that represents your character and you as a person.

Suits have always been a way of expression. So you must never choose an outfit that you cannot pull off. Just because something is trendy or looks good, it doesn’t mean that it is perfect for you, especially on such an important occasion.

When it comes to planning a gay wedding, the process can take from a few days to a whole year or more so you may have plenty of time to find the suit that makes you feel the best in your own skin. This is the only way to increase your mood and avoid at least a little bit of pressure on your wedding day.

Depending on your characters, you and your partner may choose your outfits way before the wedding. Yet, some couples decide upon their suits a few days before the special day.

The most important tip is to always coordinate the outfit with your fiancée. Both of you have your own style and way of dressing. However, you must balance your looks in order to prevent looking cliché, cheap, or overdressed.

So do you see yourself in a custom-tailored suit, a pastel combination, barefoot, or a classy suit? Tells us in the comment below.

Anni & Silvia’s Gorgeous Italian Castle Lesbian Wedding

The Lowdown

Who: Anni and Silvia
Where: Borromeo Castle, Italy
Photographer: Ordine della Giarrettiera (FB) (IG)
Illustrator & Graphic Designer: Cecilia Botta

After spending 6 years together as a couple, keen travel buddies Anni and Silvia decided to tie the knot at their gorgeous lesbian wedding in a remote Italian village where Silvia had actually proposed.

Proposing in a restaurant located just ahead of their soon-to-be wedding venue, Borromeo Castle, a stunning castle located in Milan, Italy, Silvia shares with us how their magical day unfolded.

How They Met

“We met almost 9 years ago at Anni’s house. She needed a bartender for a big party… and I’m also quite a good bar-lady. We become a couple a few months later.”

Before becoming a couple, Anni and Silvia were both passionate explorers and enjoyed spending time together, travelling in the great outdoors.

“On our last trip honeymooning in the USA, we spent twelve days in a tiny van, visiting the national parks of California, Utah, Nevada and Arizona.”

“We also love spending time with our friends and family, with our beagle Postilla always by our side.”

The Proposal

With the help of illustrator and graphic designer Cecilia Botta, Silvi created a small picture book of their story together as a couple: how they met, their life together, their routine and their adventures.

“The book ends with me asking to marry her. Anni said yes as you can imagine.”

Silvia

The Wedding

“We love the small village where our lesbian wedding venue is located. The restaurant where I – Silvia – proposed to Anni is just in front of the Borromeo Castle, where we held our wedding ceremony.”

“We just wanted something simple and welcoming, where any one of our guests could feel at ease and be pleased.”
Wanting to keep things elegant but simple for their 145 guests, Anni and Silvia opted for a white and deep blue color scheme, incorporating rosemary, sage, and lavender as their wedding scents.

“We arranged the table decorations ourselves, creating the centrepieces as well as our lesbian wedding pins.”

“We entered the ceremony with Harry Belafonte – Jump In The Line and when we cut the cake we played Rossetto e Cioccolato: a song which speaks about preparing a cake as a metaphor for ‘preparing’ love!”

unionecivile castello corneliano AS242 - Anni & Silvia’s Gorgeous Italian Castle Lesbian Wedding - Gay Wedding Guide
“Everything was just great. We were overwhelmed by love and everyone was so happy. The catering was perfect… except for the cake. The waiters brought out the cake before the chef could add the fruit decoration.”
“Anyone else would have gone mad, but we found it hilarious. The cake was delicious by the way!”
“I would say matching and staying true to our own individuality was the hardest part. My mom (Silvia’s) suggested we ask the tailor to create two different wedding skirts using the same fabric.”

Overall, Silvia is pleased with how their lesbian wedding day turned out and their decision to keep things simple.

“I’m glad we dared to have a simple yet big party, with a quality open bar.”

One piece of advice Silvia would give other same-sex couples who are planning their own lesbian wedding is:

“Don’t listen to your anxious straight friends!”
