Paris Elopement with Embroidered Wedding Dress & Red Flowers

With COVID-19 still putting a hold on most couples plans, we thought we’d share with you this incredibly stylish and romantic Paris elopement planned and captured by Anne-Sophie Benoit. She uses a high street wedding dress proving you can wear whatever you feel comfortable in and complements the embroidery design with red flowers, decor and details. There’s also an intimate picnic in the park and breathtaking views of the iconic Eiffel Tower during both day and night, plus, a seriously cool motorcycle ride.

VISION

INSPIRATION & STYLING

“I don’t live in Paris but this city definitely calls for romance. But as so many people eloped or got married in Paris, the goal was to do something a bit different. The dress was my starting point, I wanted to show that it was possible to get married without breaking the bank. As I’m a sucker for boho vibes I looked across Instagram and ended up finding this beautiful dress on Meadows. £220, I guess you can’t beat that!” – Anne Sophie Benoit

Paris Elopement

To start their romantic Paris Elopement, the couple got ready in a room with breathtaking skyline views of the romantic city. They then rode through the streets on their motorcycle and enjoyed a picnic at the Champ de Mars next to the Eiffel Tower. Artis Événement set up the laid back picnic which included rugs, cushions and a dessert table for a cute and cosy moment. After exchanging their vows on a bridge with further views of the Eiffel tower they headed to the rooftops and culminated their day by watching the city light up. Soo romantic.

ECO-CONSCIOUS

“The second thing I wanted to show was that it was possible to be more eco-conscious when it comes to getting married. All the make-up used here is vegan and all the vendors are locals. I think it’s important to think about the way weddings have an impact on our planet. So I always try to give ideas to my couples to make eco-friendly choices. It’s not about being perfect, but just making a few changes. Eloping is definitely a great way to help the planet!” – Anne Sophie Benoit

PARISIAN

“To keep the Parisian vibe, the couple got ready in a nice room with a view of Paris’ roofs. Then they rode through Paris with their motorcycle for a picnic next to the Eiffel Tower (at the Champ de Mars). Artis Événement set up the picnic for a cute and cosy moment. With their belly full, we wandered around Paris and found a nice spot for them to exchange vows. To finish, we went to a rooftop and waited for the Eiffel Tower to light up at night. Such a romantic way to end the day.” – Anne Sophie Benoit

Want to give flower seed wedding favors? We found a stylish way to do it! Read on for more + join the list for the latest.

Happy Friday! Today we’re sharing an eco-friendly favor idea: flower seeds as wedding favors! These plantable heart-shaped seed favors make beautiful party favors for weddings, showers, and engagement parties.

If you think flower seeds as wedding favors only work for spring and summer, think again! These seeds make great take-home gifts for any time of year. At the first sign of spring, guests will be excited to plant their flower seeds and remember your wedding day as the seeds bloom on a sunny sill or outside in their favorite garden spot.

While many wedding favors are thrown away, these are functional, give-back-to-Mother-Nature tokens of your appreciation for guests traveling far and wide or locally. Everyone can benefit from seeds to plant and it is a truly sustainable option. Plus, these particular flower seed favors are made by SeedWeddingFavors from 100% biodegradable and recycled materials.

Isn’t that such a nice idea and a breath of fresh air for favors? No more sitting on a shelf collecting dust — blooming in the sun instead! 🙂

There are many flower seed wedding favors on the market but we chose this as our top pick and here is why: they make the seed paper themselves, so they have COMPLETE control over the seeds that go into them, the color, and freshness.

Other seed favors? Not necessarily.

This means your seed favors for guests are always fresh and made to order.

The result? Seed mix that produces big beautiful blooms for well-known and well-loved garden flowers. Some of the blooms you’ll find include:

– pink and red poppies
black-eyed susans (mine just bloomed here and I’m loving ’em!)
– marigolds
– snapdragons
blue bachelor buttons (I had to look these up, I never heard of them before — take a look, they’re beautiful!)
– shasta daisies
– pink cosmos
… and more!

They even test its growth four times a year to ensure germination. They mean business about these seed wedding favors, you guys!

Do the flower seed wedding favors bloom again?

This was a big question I had: once planted, is that it? One season of blooms? Not necessarily! Some of the flowers are annuals for first year blooms… but others ARE perennials for blooms year after year (I love that!) This means your guests will adore seeing a few of YOUR flowers in bloom in their sunny garden space year after year.

How do you plant the heart seed paper?

You plant it the same way you’d plant any seeds. Simply keep warm, damp, and in direct sunlight.

How much do these seed favors cost?

These particular flower seed favors are wildly popular right now and are affordable, too. They are UNDER $1 (around $0.78 each!) Note: the paper feather seeds are around $1.75.

Here are a few examples of flower seed wedding favors made for couples! This first one is perfect for mountain themed weddings.

How to Attach Plantable Seeds / Heart to Paper

Upon arrival, hearts arrive loose; you’ll need to (easily!) attach the heart seeds to the cards with one of these peel-and-stick adhesives or even a small bit of double-sided tape.

Personally, I like Zots stickers for most crafts, but feel free to buy whichever kind you like best.

WHAT MADE OUR DAY UNIQUE

“Our day was unique because it took place in the garden of Charlie’s mother’s family home which was very special to us both. We had a beautiful ceremony that was personalised to reflect our individualities and was a perfect way to show our love for one another to our dearest family and friends. We chose our own vows and each said something different that was heartfelt and meaningful. We had an outdoor ceremony which felt relaxed and comfortable, guests were seated on straw bales and a family friend played the piano. During the ceremony it rained which meant that everybody was huddled under umbrellas, it didn’t spoil our day and we felt it made it even more special and memorable. We poured our hearts and souls into the preparation and planning of the wedding which meant that almost everything was sourced or made by ourselves or family and friends.” – Olivia & Charlie

Garden for Wedding

Using Charlie’s parent’s home and garden for wedding celebrations gave the gorgeous couple, free reign over the day. Olivia got ready in the kitchen, they held an outdoor ceremony with guests sitting on hay bales and then enjoyed a reception under a marquee filled with the most wonderful DIY decor. There were wooden barrels, pallets and signs; plus, wildflower centrepieces and displays resting on tree slices. All of this fabulous DIY decor ensured they kept a tight hold of the budget, but it certainly didn’t mean they forfeit on any of the details.

INSPIRATION & STYLING

“We wanted the vibe of our wedding day to be relaxed, informal and enjoyable. Our styling reflected this. We played up to the countryside setting and used local suppliers who provided straw bales and rustic wood for seating and tables. We chose wildflowers of many varieties and colours for our wedding to add to the relaxed and informal styling. All of the flowers were homegrown from seeds by our sister in law who then arranged them on the tables and created the bouquets and buttonholes.
The Marquee was set out for informal dining with long, rustic tables and bench seating. We kept the tables uncluttered with homemade place settings and the colour came only from the jars of flowers which sat on rustic wood from taken from the garden.
We wanted to use natural materials where possible throughout the wedding and source these ourselves from the local area.”

Stephanie Gallen Millinery launches her first core bridal range

(Photo: Laura Elizabeth Patrick) Chloe band, £110, Stephanie Gallen Millinery

In the bridal business, as in life, nothing ever stays the same for long; successful are those who branch out and adapt. Just ask star milliner, Stephanie Gallen.

“In the past, I’ve only ever created pieces for individual brides when they’ve approached me, as the majority of my work up until quite recently centred around mothers of the bride/groom and guests,” she explains. “More often than not, these brides came to me because they wanted something a tiny bit different from what they could find elsewhere on the market, or envisioned a style that echoed aspects from my non-bridal offering.

“However, with requests increasing year on year, I decided to put together a range of dedicated headpieces for brides to choose from. And so, The Wedding Collection was born. It’s a mix of traditional bridal and classic millinery elements, with a hat tip (pardon the pun!) to bygone glamour.”

Staying true to her roots, this is no cookie-cutter collection and still allows brides to break the mould a little. “It’s less of the more typical metallic clips and hair vines (although I do still love these), and more fabric-based styles, delicately embellished with pearls, crystals, lace and feathers,” Stephanie notes.

We’re lusting hard after the lavish, studded Chloe band (above), £110.

Natural Beauty: Resorts with the Most Gorgeous Gardens

-AS SEEN IN BRIDAL GUIDE MAGAZINE-

Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria

Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria

Owned and operated by the same family for five generations, this exquisite waterview hideaway on Italy’s ultra-romantic Amal Coast is a stalwart luxury hotel. High-end touches in the 180-year-old Sorrento property include bespoke art-filled accommodations complete with crisp linen sheets, unbeatable — and award-winning — regional cuisine (remember this is where pizza was invented) and an endless garden that fuels not only the food program, but also some of the spa treatments. The hotel’s 215,000-plus square foot groves feature lemons and other delectable citrus including the regional organe, which can be found in the lobby’s fresh-squeezed juice, as well as local perfumes (room rates start at about $555 a night).

Bellagio Hotel and Casino

Bellagio Hotel and Casino

Named for a village on Italy’s Lake Como, this Las Vegas Strip mainstay is all about the glitz and glamour for which both destinations are so celebrated. There’s the unparalleled art collection, the robust food and beverage offerings, and of course the famed dancing fountains. Another standout are the rotating gardens. The not-oft-touted conservatory is nothing less than spectacular. A marriage of artful efforts by the enormous on-site horticulture team and a visiting artist, the indoor oral creations are an impressive masterpiece of design that change seasonally (room rates start at $159 a night).

Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel

Peru Andes

This collection of whitewashed buildings, positioned close to one of the world’s most mystical sites — Machu Picchu — is set on a seemingly endless 12 jungle-y acres. Among the flora are more than 370 orchid species. The gorgeous — and fragrant — garden comprises the world’s largest collection of native orchid varieties. The space is also home to a whopping 214 bird species. And deep within the dense foliage is the spa, which at its centerpoint boasts a traditional Incan sweat lodge. It’s the perfect finale after exploring the mountainous area (room rates start at $250 a night and include breakfast, dinner and train transfers).

Ashford Castle

Ashford Castle

Proudly standing in County Mayo on Ireland’s western coast, this stately — and sprawling — 13th-century estate is chockablock with all the classic and gilded amenities that one would expect from a bonafide castle. One of the marquee attractions are the formal gardens, which were originally designed by Lady Ardilaun of the Guinness family, owners of the storied property for 100 years. Terraces and walkways lattice meticulously manicured hedges, owers and trees. And the expanse is punctuated by water features, notably a pond. Activities hosted in the gardens include falconry (room rates start at about $785 a night and include breakfast).

And The Bride Wore a Jumpsuit – Wedding Dress New Norm

The Best Affordable Jumpsuit Styles Priced Just Right

When you imagine a bride walking down the aisle, you imagine a white dress with a long train and bouquet in hands… But, what if we ask you to reimagine this? Instead, imagine a bride walking down the aisle in a fabulous jumpsuit/pantsuit and bouquet in hands. Would your reaction be something of a shock, neutral, or you would be being on board??
So, wedding dress tends to be the go-to wardrobe, but that’s shouldn’t be the only option. This tradition started back in the twentieth century when Queen Victoria’s 1840 marriage to Prince Albert –

So when Victoria opted to wear a white gown (reportedly to show off the fine detailed Honiton lace produced by the British lace industry, which was floundering at the time), her fashion choice was widely reported in newspapers and magazines and was soon influencing domestic as well as international wedding trends. Initially embraced by wealthier brides, the trend of a white wedding gown eventually spread across all economic levels and was cemented as “tradition” in the 20th century. Britannica

So, it’s not traditional to wear white, you can wear anything you feel good in –..other colors were chosen far more frequently than white. For many centuries in Western societies, wedding dresses were of all different colors. This was for reasons of practicality as much as anything else. Brides tended to buy a wedding dress that could be worn again, or they simply wore the best dress they already owned. And white does not lend itself to practicality: it is difficult to keep clean and is therefore not ideal for many situations or for repeat wear. Many brides chose to wear dresses of other colors for their wedding—and beyond..” Britannica
Experts Say
Yes, you can wear pants to a wedding if dresses aren’t your thing. “As bridal wear is evolving, so is what guests are wearing,” Lein Founder and Designer Meredith Stoecklein tells TZR. … She notes, “I’m most comfortable in pants, and the right style and fabric can be elevated but still comfortable.”

Whether you go sleek, embellished, or bohemian, a bridal jumpsuit is also an excellent option for other events leading up to the big day (like the engagement party, bridal shower, or rehearsal dinner).
Plus, you can easily wear one again for formal events down the road. From pared-back and simple to ornate and dramatic, jumpsuits are available in a range of silhouettes to suit every bride’s style. (Brides.com)

Here are a few styles we found that are affordable and can be worn again. From Esty, BHLDN, Net-A-Porter, Neiman Marcus, Shopbop, to Lulus, and David’s Bridal.

Your wedding day should be what you feel most comfortable in and not a trend that started due to one person. Psst… all these styles you can wear again. Win. Win. Remember, there are no rules saying it has to be white.

Tip Tuesday: Mask Up!

It’s pretty clear by now masks aren’t going anywhere. Not only are they recommended by the CDC as an effective way to slow the spread of COVID-19, they are also currently mandated by many cities and states. Masks should of course be seen as more than an accessory, but while we’re all doing our part and masking up we might as well get to choose pretty ones, right?

If you’re a bride-to-be, it’s safe to say you’ve been pretty impacted by COVID-19 at this point. If you’re in the process of postponing and need some tips, check out my post, Tip Tuesday: Postponing Your Wedding! Since big weddings are out of the question right now, many brides (myself included) are opting to have a smaller, intimate ceremony now and a bigger celebration when it’s safe to do so. If you’re choosing to move forward with something small, a fun way to stay safe and fashionable is to opt for a bridal themed mask. Not only is a bridal mask a great option for your actual wedding ceremony, but there are a few events along the way where masks are a still a must. You’ll want to feel like the bride at all of your pre-wedding beauty appointments (where allowed and safe to do so), bridal showers, dress fittings, final meetings with vendors, last minute wedding errands, and even making the trip to pick up your wedding license. Since you’re wearing a mask anyway, why not opt for a stylish, bridal option!

Bonus tip, if your dress needs significant alterations, ask your seamstress to save some of the fabric to create a one-of-a-kind mask that matches your dress perfectly!
