Elizabeth is a Jo Daviess County village with a genuine frontier story: it is named for a woman who helped hold a fort. Absolute Music: DJing since 1993.
Getting Married in Elizabeth
Elizabeth, population 694 at the 2020 census, is home to Apple River Fort, where a Black Hawk War battle was fought on June 24, 1832. Local tradition holds that a woman named Elizabeth Armstrong rallied the fort’s defenders during the fight, and the town carries her name.
